  • 25% decrease in the risk of Caesarean

  • 8% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

  • 10% decrease in the use of any medications for pain relief

  • Shorter labors by 41 minutes on average

  • 38% decrease in the baby’s risk of a low five-minute APGAR score

  • 31% decrease in the risk of being dissatisfied with the birth experience

A doula can help you navigate all of your questuions while following your lead and providing resources. Having the care & expertise of a trained practitioner during the first weeks & months postpartum can be of incredible support for families.

I strive to create a nurturing and restorative environment so growing families can make fond memories and focus on the important things: you and your family.

What is a doula?

The role of a Postpartum Doula is like no other. A Doula’s role is fluid. From family to family, hour to hour, our role is constantly changing. In just one day, we may serve as educator, listening ear, puddle sitter, and source of encouragement. We offer practical support by preparing nutritious meals, nurturing older children, even going to the store for essentials.

The doula recognizes when a family can benefit from specialized help and offers quality, reliable referrals when they are needed.

At all times, the doula provides reassurance, support, and the belief that these parents can and will be successful in nurturing their family.¹

Present health care practices and a lack of cultural rituals leave families virtually unsupported at this important time in their lives. There is a great deal of evidence suggesting that quality support can ease the transition that comes with the addition of a baby to the family.

By educating, attending to the needs of the parents, infant and children, and by offering quality referral information, the postpartum doula can ease and enhance the postpartum experience. Every family can benefit from the support and encouragement offered by a doula during the fourth trimester.²
